Parokya Ni Edgar will be in Binondo, Manila, Philippines soon to celebrate the 2020 Chinese New Year. Along with the Filipino rock band, several musicians including Sean Patrick “Shanti Dope” Ramos, 18, and Aristotle “Gloc-9” Pollisco, 41, will be performing in the country’s capital to kick off the Year of the Rat.
In 2019, Shanti Dope and Gloc-9 collaborated with Parokya ni Edgar lead vocalist Alfonso “Chito” Y. Miranda Jr., 43. Their The collaboration song “Pati Pato” featured Shanti Dope’s uncle and producer Lester “DJ Klumcee” Vaño.
On January 24, 2020, Parokya Ni Edgar, Shanti Dope and Gloc-9 will perform at Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz in Binondo for the Chinese New Year Countdown 2020 Street Party from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. The show will feature special celebrity guests including Sponge Cola, Ex-Battalion, Darren Espanto, Angeline Quinto, Janine Berdin and many more musical acts to keep the night festive.
Also joining the festivities are all-star celebrity guests from ABS-CBN and GMA including Joshua Garcia, Derrick Monasterio and Rita Daniela. A 30-minute grand firework display to top the New Year Countdown off and start the year with a big bang.
On January 25, 2020, there will be a Grand Float Parade that will travel along the streets of Binondo and Sta. Cruz. It will also feature special celebrity guests.
Admission is free for all events of the grand celebration of the 2020 Chinese New Year organized by the Office of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso. The activities will be held in cooperation with the Filipino-Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Inc. (FCGCCI) and Manila Chinatown Development Council.
